Presentation Description
Presence is not a technique but the ground from which techniques gain meaning. It’s about cultivating awareness, attunement, and responsibility so that therapy remains deeply human. What truly shapes the therapeutic relationship is not the intervention itself, but the presence of the therapist: The quality of attention, attunement and connection offered in the moment. “Presence” is not a single skill but rather it is a multidimensional way of being that carries ethical weight and relational consequence.
OBJECTIVES
· Identify presence and connection as the therapeutic grounding of group and individual therapy
· Define and articulate the concept of ethical presence in psychotherapy, distinguishing it from technical interventions
· Experience and reflect on personal countertransference, dreams and biases to deepen self-awareness and ethical presence
· Integrate ethical presence principles into clinical practice to enhance therapeutic connection and client dignity
